I was really excited when I found out about the fact that our church was going to be developing a new website. I saw it as being a new tool for me to keep both students and parents updated on developments in the ministry. I’ve been trying to decide how to best use this blog page. Then I had an idea. Why not use the page as a way to keep parents up to date with youth culture?

Let’s face it-youth in today’s culture are exposed to more than any other generation has ever been exposed to before. They spend the majority of their time during the school year away from home and under the pressure of teachers and peers. When they do come home they spend their spare time being bombarded with several different ideals and lifestyles that are contrary than what they are being raised to uphold. They have YouTube, XBox, MySpace, and iPods. They live in a culture with ever-changing trends in thought and behavior. How can anyone keep up with all that’s going on that is influencing our youth?

The purpose of this blog page will be to discuss the current trends in youth culture. What do they like? What is important to them? Most importantly, what are the dangers that they face? I hope that this page will be beneficial to you. Any comments that you might have about anything that is discussed would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and God Bless!
